- b. 1913, Barcelona; d. 1985, BarcelonaArchitectNephew of one of the great figures of Modernism, Antoni Gallissa, Antoni de Moragas qualified as an architect in 1941. He was deeply committed to avant-garde architecture which was struggling to establish itself in Spain at the time. The work which best expresses his sensibility and convictions is the renovation of the Cinema Fémina (1950–2, Barcelona) a building which displays great purity of form. A founder member of the Grupo R in 1951, along with Coderch, Sostres and Bohigas and others, he was subsequently elected Dean of the Col·legi d'Arquitectes de Catalunya i Balears from 1964– 6 and from 1972–4. Notable among his many Moragas i Galissa, Antoni de 347 creations are the Hotel Park (1950–3, Barcelona) and Les Cases dels Braus (1961, Barcelona).MIHAIL MOLDOVEANU
